What Washington is Talking About:
Sens. Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.) and Chris Coons (D-Del.) introduced a resolution Wednesday to show support for US intelligence, Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.) said if Trump turns over a former US ambassador to Russia, it would be grounds for impeachment, and members are debating whether they can and should bring in President Trump's interpreter for questioning over his meeting with Vladimir Putin.

What America is Talking About:
The ESPYs gave the Arthur Ashe Courage Award to 141 survivors of sexual abuse at the hands of disgraced former Olympic and Michigan State University gymnastics coach Larry Nassar. And three coaches who were killed in the Parkland shooting were posthumously awarded the Best Coach Award.

Poll of the Day:
A majority of Americans -- regardless of party -- believe US intelligence when it comes to Russian interference in the 2016 campaign. According to a CBS News poll, 70% of Americans believe US intelligence, while 24% do not.

The poll also found 55% of Americans disapprove of Trump's handling of his meeting with Putin and 61% are concerned about Russian interference in the 2018 election.

Trump Reportedly Knew Interference Details Before Taking Office:
Trump was briefed on Russia's attack on our election two weeks before he took office, according to former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper. Clapper told CNN Thursday that Trump was shown classified intelligence including texts and emails from Russian military officers which showed Putin had personally ordered the interference campaign. The former national intelligence chief said Trump listened to the briefing with "some skepticism."

What Even Is This Video?:
One line we're hearing repeatedly from Trump and the White House is that Trump has said many times that Russia is responsible for election interference. @realDonaldTrump even tweeted a video out this morning claiming to show that, but like... even though he does claim in the video on multiple occasions that it was Russia, he hedges in every 👏 single 👏 instance 👏. Was this made by Media Matters?!

White House Considering Handing Americans Over to Russia for Interrogation:
White House press secretary Sarah Sanders said Wednesday that they're considering a proposal from Putin that would let Russia interrogate Americans including Michael McFaul, a former US ambassador to Russia, and Bill Browder, who lobbied for sanctions against Russia, in exchange for -- get this -- their help in investigating their own interference in our election. 🤔

The State Department was a hard no ✋🛑 on Putin's idea. Said State spox Heather Nauert: "The overall assertions that have come out of the Russian government are absolutely absurd. The fact that they want to question 11 American citizens and the assertions American citizens -- we do not stand by those assertions that the Russian government makes. The prosecutor general in Russia is well aware that the United States has rejected Russian allegations in this regard."

"Something Profound Has Happened":
Attention, Congress: Carl Bernstein would like you to go on the record. On CNN last night, Bernstein called for journalists to get lawmakers to speak on the record about what they're saying in private about Trump.

"Republicans in Washington on the Hill are saying to each other, 'We do not trust this President, we can't trust him with the security of the United States,'" Bernstein said. "We want to hear from you on the record. Tell us, is the President truthful?" Bernstein said that "something profound has happened. It is clear to everybody but the base that the President is not capable of being truthful."

Zuck Seeks to Clarify Holocaust Remark:
In an interview with Recode that published Wednesday, Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg said the site would leave posts denying the Holocaust up because "I don't believe that our platform should take that down because I think there are things that different people get wrong." The blowback was immediate and fierce, and within hours, Zuck was doing cleanup. "I personally find Holocaust denial deeply offensive, and I absolutely didn't intend to defend the intent of people who deny that," Zuckerberg wrote in an email to Recode.

Zuck also warned against breaking up Facebook or making it harder for the company to do business around the world, saying, "there are plenty of other companies out there that are willing and able to take the place of the work that we're doing," including China, which does "not share the values that we have."

Trumps Pay Respect to Secret Service Agent:
POTUS and FLOTUS met Wednesday at Joint Base Andrews with the family of Secret Service Special Agent Nole Edward Remagen, who died at 42 after suffering a stroke over the weekend in Scotland with Trump. Remagen is survived by his wife and two children. Trump said in a statement, "Melania and I are deeply grateful for his lifetime of devotion, and today, we pause to honor his life and 24 years of service to our Nation."

Dems Bet on "For The People":
House Dems introduced their slogan ahead of the midterms Wednesday. "For The People" is meant to convey the idea that "Democrats hear you, we agree with you and we are fighting for the people each and every day," Rep. Cheri Bustos (D-Ill.), co-chair of Dems' Policy and Communications Committee, told CNN. "President Trump and Washington Republicans promised they'd fix these problems," she said. "Instead, the lobby of the Trump hotel in Washington is filled with lobbyists and special interests who are writing the rules to enrich themselves."

Michelle Obama Would Like You to Register to Vote:
The former FLOTUS recorded an ad for the non-partisan, not-for-profit group When We All Vote, alongside stars including Janelle Monáe, Tom Hanks, Tim McGraw and Faith Hill. It's the first as in an extended campaign with an expected $8 million budget, per Politico.

Street Art Sighting:
These "This Is America" posters of Childish Gambino by AbsurdlyWell, the street artist behind the "Let's G'O'" posters of Oprah that popped up across D.C. beginning this spring, were spotted yesterday on a sign for a closed sub shop across from Howard University at 2600 Georgia Ave NE.
