What Washington is Talking About:
The Senate Intel committee is holding a hearing on the security clearance process, and a group of Senate Dems introduced their infrastructure plan.

What America is Talking About:
Target employees don't have to wear their khakis on the weekend. The company said in 2017 if it met a sales goal they could wear jeans on the weekend, and the goal was met.

What Texas is Talking About:
Texas' US Senate race is set after yesterday's primaries, with Repub Rafael "Ted" Edward Cruz to face off against Dem Robert "Beto" O'Rourke. Cruz hit O'Rourke for going by "Beto" in a song (Cruz is unfortunately not singing it, however); O'Rourke told CNN, "My parents have called me Beto from day one, and it's just -- it's kind of a nickname for Robert in El Paso. It just stuck." And three US House races are headed to a May runoff.

Stormy Sues Trump:
In a suit filed Tuesday in a California state court, Stormy Daniels accuses President Trump of not signing the non-disclosure agreement that she claimed kept her from discussing their alleged affair, and that his lawyer Michael Cohen signed on his behalf.

Cohn Quits:
A casualty of Trump's tariffs talk, his top economic adviser Gary Cohn said yesterday he's leaving the White House over disagreements with Trump on aluminum and steel tariff proposal. "Wall Street won't be happy," a senior Repub told CNN.

Sam Nunberg Changes His Mind, Will Cooperate with Special Counsel:
His multi-network media blitz was all for naught. The former Trump campaign aide told CNN he will cooperate with Robert Mueller's investigation.

Trump Admits Russia Meddled, Says There's a "Very, Very Deep Study" Coming Out:
During his joint presser with Swedish Prime Minister Löfven yesterday, Trump was asked what Sweden should learn from Russian interference in the 2016 US election. His response did not actually ever answer the question. This is what he said instead:
  1. Admitted Russia meddled during the 2016 campaign: "Certainly there was meddling"
  2. Again suggested without evidence that maybe individuals or other countries also meddled (although he did not say it could have been a 400-pound man this time): "Probably there was meddling from other countries and maybe other individuals."
  3. Said the US would not let any votes be compromised: "You don't want your system of votes to be compromised in any way.  And we won't allow that to happen."
  4. Said there was a study coming out, but didn't say who was doing it or what exactly the study was on: "We're doing a very, very deep study, and we're coming out with some, I think, very strong suggestions on the '18 election."
  5. Suddenly switched from talking about a foreign country attempting to interfere in our elections to talking about how he thought Repubs would do in the midterms: "I think we're going to do very well on the '18 election, although, historically, those in the White House have a little bit of a dip.  But I think we're going to do well because the economy is so good."
  6. Talked about Neil Gorsuch as a reason Repubs would do well: "Also, the judges.  I mean, we have outstanding judges.  Judge Gorsuch in the Supreme Court, and many, many judges going onto the bench all over the country. So I think we're going to do very well, and I think it will be a tremendous surprise to people how well."
  7. Got back on track talking about foreign interference and said "they" (the US?) would have a paper backup system for future elections: "And one of the things we're learning is, it's always good — it's old-fashioned, but it's always good to have a paper back-up system of voting."
  8. And when asked if he's worried about Russia meddling in 2018, the President said we'll "counteract" Russia, with no details of what exactly he meant by "counteract" (and this, remember, coming after it's been revealed his State Department has spent $0 on combating Russian interference efforts and his NSA chief said Trump has not asked him to do anything about Russia): "We'll counteract whatever they do.  We'll counteract it very strongly.  And we are having strong backup systems.  And we've been working, actually — we haven't been given credit for this, but we've actually been working very hard on the '18 election and the '20 election coming up.  Thank you very much."
Sanctions Against Russia are Coming:
Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin told lawmakers they could expect sanctions targeting Russia for meddling in the election as soon as next week, and that Trump "is fully supportive of the work we're doing."

Utah Gov. Taps Breaks on Naming Highway After Trump:
Utah Gov. Gary Herbert said it's "a little premature" to name a highway after Trump, according to the Salt Lake Tribune. State lawmakers proposed honoring Trump by naming after him a highway that runs from near Lake Powell through several national parks.

Nancy Pelosi Donated Her Suit to the Smithsonian:
Pelosi donated the gavel she used in her 2007 swearing in as the first female House Speaker, as well as the burgundy suit she wore to her swearing in, to the National Museum of American History today.

"Nancy Pelosi's donation joins objects in the museum that reflect firsts achieved by women who changed America and who inspired—and continue to inspire—others to make change themselves," the museum's Lisa Kathleen Graddy wrote.

Parker Curry's Mom Talks About Meeting Michelle Obama:
Parker Curry, the young girl who got to dance with Michelle Obama after the photo of her looking at M.O.'s portrait went viral, was on CNN last night. Her mom, Jessica, told our Don Lemon that Parker thought Obama was a queen and said the former first lady invited them to her office. "She's really down to earth, really sweet," Curry said. "We had a good time talking to her. Her and Parker chatted and they hung out and Parker got her out of her shoes and got her up and dancing."

Street Art Sighting:
Electronic signs honoring the students killed at the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School were up in Times Square yesterday. The space was donated and alumni voted on the design they wanted to put up, Nicole Sloan, a 2007 Douglas grad who lives in New York, told me in a phone interview. She said it's been "amazing" to see alumni across the country respond to the tragedy. "Everyone is coming together," she said. "We're all planning on going to various marches."
