Tiffany Trump Alert: First daughter reportedly heading to Georgetown Law in the fall

MTV's Political Awards Show: The Movie and TV Awards included a cameo by Rep. Maxine Waters

Hi, Fans: The 2010 Melania Trump videos you'll be obsessed with

Kate Bennett

What the White House is Talking About:
President Trump today meets with National Security Advisor H.R. McMaster, lunches with Vice President Mike Pence and later meets with Secretary of State Rex Tillerson in the Oval Office.

What the White House Press Corps is Talking About:
Keeping one eye on the testimony before a Senate subcommittee by former Acting Attorney General Sally Yates regarding the Russia investigation and what she told the White House. President Trump has already posted two tweets about it.

Breaking: Obama Warned Trump About Flynn:
When they met in the Oval Office two days after Trump won the election, then-President Obama apparently warned him against hiring Michael Flynn as his national security advisor.

Sure, He'll Weigh In:
It's unusual for a former president to comment on a current president's policies -- even more so when that former president is only 100 days out of office -- but Obama apparently doesn't care. Last night, while accepting the John F. Kennedy Profile in Courage Award, Obama said, "I hope that current members of Congress recognize it takes little courage to aid those who are already powerful, already comfortable, already influential -- but it takes great courage to champion the vulnerable and the sick and the infirm," a direct response to Trump's healthcare bill. Meanwhile Caroline Kennedy's son, 24-year-old Jack Schlossberg -- the heir apparent to "the next Kennedy!" phenomenon, because America has to have one -- credited Obama with helping him quit snacks. In his remarks at the event, the Harvard Law School-bound Schlossberg said, "Without Barack Obama, I might still be sitting on my couch, eating Doritos and watching sports."

ALERT: TIFFANY TRUMP TO D.C.:
Tiffany Trump, daughter of the President and ex-wife Marla Maples, will attend Georgetown Law School this fall, which has been the buzz for the past several weeks. Guys, Tiffany. Tiffany will be here. In Washington. For us to observe. And there's even a rumor she's going to move into the White House. This. Just. Got. Interesting.

Bill Clinton is Writing a Crime Novel, Because Of Course He Is:
The former president will team with author James Patterson to write "The President is Missing." According to a release from Alfred A. Knopf & Little, Brown and Company, publishers of the thriller, Clinton says, "working on a book about a sitting President – drawing on what I know about the job, life in the White House, and the way Washington works – has been a lot of fun." It's due out in June 2018; here's a sneak peek of the cover:

Ivanka Trump Gets More on her Plate:
This time it's climate change, specifically the Paris Agreement that her father reportedly wants to pull out of— but first, he says he wants Ivanka to give it a review, according to the AP. Ivanka's already meeting with members of the Cabinet to discuss women's economic issues and concerns about working families.

If You Spent Your Weekend Under Un Rocher, Macron Won the French Election:
Not really going to give an opinion here, other than to confess I can't focus on anything else about this guy except that he met his wife, Brigitte Trogneux, WHEN HE WAS 15 AND SHE WAS HIS DRAMA TEACHER. I'm not judging by any means, but I think it's a fascinating and compelling tangent to Macron's story. Oh, and she's also probably going to reform education.

Um, The Guy Who Owns My Favorite Ramen Place is Kind of A Badass:
If you have Monday mind-wander, it's worth the time to read this Tim Mak story about Jeff Jetton, a DC restaurateur who is so obsessed with Trump's tries to Russia that he's practically scooping journalists on the story.

Queen Elizabeth Driving Herself:
People on the Twitter liked this when I posted it last night -- more than 1,000 times liked. She's 91 and driving herself home from church yesterday in a green Jaguar station wagon. There's a security guard next to her, but you can't see him in this pic. Also, no, she doesn't have a driver's license and she doesn't have to because SHE'S THE QUEEN OF ENGLAND.

What Washington is Talking About:
The Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Crime and Terrorism will hear testimony today from former National Intelligence Director James Clapper and former Acting Attorney General Sally Yates, beginning at 2:30 p.m. ET.

What America is Talking About:
Emma Watson's acceptance speech for the new, genderless Best Actor category last night at the MTV Movie and TV Awards. "The villagers in our fairy tale wanted to make Belle believe that the world was smaller than the way she saw it," she said. "I loved playing someone who didn't listen to any of that."

The Politics of the MTV Movie and TV Awards:
Also at the MTV awards ceremony was Rep. Maxine Waters, D-California. The anti-Trump folk hero helped actress Tracee Ellis Ross present the award for Best Fight Against the System (so on brand!) to "Hidden Figures," which star Taraji P. Henson accepted.

Other political moments from the show include Trevor Noah winning Best Host, an award given to him by Martha Stewart and Snoop Dogg (Noah thanked "Donald J. Trump for the comedy" and "France for making the right decision") and Paris Jackson wearing this Michelle Obama shirt on the red carpet.

One Person Who Doesn't Mind Trump Golfing:
PGA CEO Peter Bevacqua, who told CNN that Trump's frequent weekend golf outings are good for the sport.

"You want the right kind of attention, but when you have the president playing golf and saying that golf is a good thing, that's good for the game," he said. "President Obama was good for the game. President Clinton was good for the game. I think President Trump, again, being a proponent of the game, understanding the power of the game, is good."

Pepe Watch:
Artist Matt Furie, the creator of Pepe, reportedly drew his cartoon frog creation in a casket for Fantagraphics' "World's Greatest Comics" Saturday, a move some have interpreted as him killing Pepe off. COVER/LINE has reached out to Furie and Fantagraphics, but has not yet received comment.

On right-wing online forums like Gab and r/The_Donald, some users are celebrating by posting images of Pepe as Jesus. "PEPES NEVER DIE! HE IS RISEN! PRAISE KEK!," one user wrote. "Praise Kek," btw, is an online-right joke about how Pepe is the modern incarnation of an ancient Egyptian god.

Furie wrote last year in Time how he wanted to reclaim Pepe. "Before he got wrapped up in politics, Pepe was an inside-joke and a symbol for feeling sad or feeling good and many things in between," he said. "I understand that it's out of my control, but in the end, Pepe is whatever you say he is, and I, the creator, say that Pepe is love."

Hi, Fans 👋:
My new favorite Melania moments are these 2010 Facebook videos that open with the future FLOTUS saying, "Hi, fans." There's one where she says she's going to the Broadway premiere of "American Idiot" and another where she says she's going to the Met Gala.

I will always appreciate the Trumps keeping their pre-campaign social media posts up online. This video in particular shows a reality show wife doing a little ~promo~ and using social to ~build her brand~, with all the awkwardness of a Britney Spears livestream fan Q&A. She seemingly has no premonition she'll be First Lady one day. I'm obsessed.
