That effect appears to be powerful, negative and enduring. It could undermine decades of U.S. foreign policy successes." Then, French voters head to the polls today for the second round of their presidential election. Joining Fareed to discuss that race and more are Natalie Nougayrède, the former managing editor of France's Le Monde and now a columnist for The Guardian, Bret Stephens, an op-ed columnist at the New York Times, and Richard Haass, president of the Council on Foreign Relations and the author of a "A World in Disarray." Nougayrède on Marine Le Pen and Vladimir Putin Next, Ben Bernanke was Chairman of the Federal Reserve from 2006 to 2014. The book he wrote about it, "The Courage to Act," is now out in paperback. Fareed asks him whether U.S. growth is petering out, what he makes of President Trump's proposals on tax and infrastructure, and whether he believes politics in Washington is going to get fixed anytime soon. Also on the show: Fareed is joined by Neil deGrasse Tyson, director of the Hayden Planetarium, who discusses his new book, "Astrophysics for People in a Hurry," whether there is life outside of Earth, and what he would say to those who express skepticism over the science on climate change.
