She visited sick children this morning at Necker Hospital, a visual strikingly similar to her May stop in Rome. | | Credit: Martin Bureau/Getty Images; Corbis/Getty Images But let's talk about the red suit, OK? It's a Christian Dior, customized as an homage to Dior's famous "Bar suit," from the designer's very first collection in 1947. In Paris right now, there's an ongoing Dior retrospective exhibition at Les Arts Décoratifs in honor of the House of Dior's 70th anniversary, something Melania's stylist, Hervé Pierre, told WWD was top of mind in selecting the red suit. Pierre also said this, which is amazing: "The clothes are important, but not only to be pretty like a doll or something. The packaging is very important. You don't put Chanel No. 5 in a bottle of Clorox." No, no you don't. Sun Valley Conference. It's not uncommon for Javanka's Washington departures to be timed, coincidentally or not, with trouble back at the ranch (the ranch being the White House). In April, as rumors of West Wing infighting hit headlines, the couple went skiing in Whistler, British Columbia; in March, as Trump's first pass at health care floundered, they were also skiing, that time in Aspen, Colorado. Spotted in the Swamp: There was a Bastille Day party Wednesday night at the residence of French Ambassador Gérard Araud. It was nice and crowded, and Araud, who is now staying two more years in his Washington post, made remarks. They were followed by the anthems of France and the United States, sung by the Washington Men's Camerata. There were other ambassadors present, including Sergey Kislyak, the Russian ambassador whose name has come up, oh, a few times in the whole Trump-Russia controversy. However, he had already left by the time two SUVs sped up to Araud's Kalorama estate, depositing White House press secretary Sean Spicer and his wife, Rebecca -- and his security detail. Spicer hung around for a bit, accommodating selfie requests from Washington's VIP diplomatic set. As I was leaving, another Trump administration bold-facer was walking up to the front door: Kellyanne Conway, who had presumably just come from taping her much-memed Fox News segment (see below). I, of course, was most excited about the Laudurée macarons (I don't know who took the missing cookies, but I swear it wasn't me), and the Champagne tower. Hi, I'm Kate. | | Dress Like the (Former) First Lady: Michelle Obama made a surprise appearance Wednesday night at the ESPY Awards in Los Angeles, honoring the late Eunice Kennedy Shriver for her work with Special Olympics. Senators Lindsey Graham and Bill Cassidy released an alternative plan that would keep federal taxes in place and send the money to the states. What America is Talking About: The ESPYs were held Wednesday in Los Angeles. Simone Biles and the Oklahoma City Thunders' Russell Westbrook were awarded Best Female and Best Male Athlete, respectively. Poll of the Day: About four in 10 Americans say they've personally experienced harassment online, according to Pew. | | Trump's 2013 Dinner with Goldstone and Emin: CNN has obtained exclusive footage of President Trump dining with music publicist Rob Goldstone and his pop star client Emin in Las Vegas in 2013 before the Miss USA pageant, where Trump announced that the Miss Universe pageant would be held in Moscow. This story continues to fascinate me; Imagine if, like, Justin Timberlake were connected to a political controversy with the president of a foreign country. Here's a still of Trump next to Emin: | | Make Your Own Kellyanne Signs: Kellyanne Conway appeared on "Hannity" Wednesday night and held up a piece of paper that read, "CONCLUSION? C̶O̶L̶L̶U̶S̶I̶O̶N̶," and another that read, "ILLUSION DELUSION." "This is to help all the people at home," she said. "What's the conclusion? Collusion? No, we don't have that yet. I see illusion and delusion. So, just so we're clear, everyone, four words: conclusion, collusion, no; illusion, delusion yes." It was immediately memed. He also made a joke about the acronym AI, which stands for "artificial intelligence." "A lot of cattle are fertilized through artificial insemination," he wrote. "As we were talking, it became clear 'AI' means something very different out here!" | | Credit: Mark Zuckerberg/Facebook The Wall Street Journal spoke with some people Zuck has met during his ongoing 30-state tour and found there are a couple rules they're asked to follow. | | Credit: The Wall Street Journal Politics for Your Ears: Billboard has a compiled a list of 11 songs that sample presidential speeches, from FDR and JFK to W. and Obama. My fav is Lil Wayne, born Dwayne Carter Jr., sampling Jimmy Carter's swearing-in in his song, "President Carter."
