Japan's Eerie Garden of Stone Cold Stares
Hidden in the town of Osawano, Japan is a sculpture garden with 800 lifelike statues of Buddhist deities alongside replicas of real people. Commissioned by Mutsuo Furukawa, this collection was recently re-discovered in 2016 by a photographer who stumbled upon the abandoned park. It is said that the people depicted were friends and family of Mutsuo; however, it is unclear whether or not they were aware of their stony clones.
Catching Tiny Fish With Tiny Rods
Every fisherman today has a big fish story, but in ancient Japan, the tiniest fish was the biggest catch. Tanago fishing is a Japanese tradition dating back to samurai over 200 years ago. A tanago fish can be as small as the nail of a pinky finger; in order to catch one, a fisherman must have a hook, bait, and a very special fishing rod called Edo Wazao, handmade from natural bamboo.
Keith Garrett went from selling drugs to selling tacos, burritos and quesadillas at his food truck, All Flavor, No Grease. Living on one of the most dangerous blocks in South L.A., Garrett began to bring together all flavors of people over his mother's famous tacos.
