Two months before the election, Trump lawyer Michael Cohen secretly recorded a conversation between him and Trump about payments to Stormy Daniels, according to the New York Times. The FBI got ahold of the recording when they raided Cohen's office.
Trump Invited the Guy Accused of Ordering a Cyber Attack on Our Election to the White House:
Even though Trump's meeting with Putin outraged his fellow Repubs, Trump's now ready for Round 2. White House press secretary Sarah Sanders announced Thursday that Trump has invited Putin to Washington, and "discussions (about a DC summit) are already underway." The plan is to hold the meeting sometime this fall. I have a feeling we'll be seeing protests in Washington over this one...
Trump's Director of National Intelligence in the Dark:
DNI Dan Coats was mid-interview with NBC's Andrea Mitchell at the Aspen Security Forum in Colorado Thursday when she broke the news to him that Trump had invited Putin to meet in Washington. He was surprised, saying he had no clue what happened in their first meeting and wasn't asked for advice. DOJ to Alert Americans About Election Hacking:
Deputy Attorney General Rod J. Rosenstein announced the Justice Department will inform the public about foreign attempts to hack, spread misinformation, or otherwise interfere in our democracy. Americans "have a right to know if foreign governments are targeting them with propaganda," he said at the Aspen Security Forum. Rosenstein said interference actions are "persistent, they are pervasive, and they are meant to undermine America's democracy on a daily basis, regardless of whether it is election time or not.
Flake Weighs in on Helsinki:
You knew Sen. Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.), a frequent Trump critic, would have something to say. In a speech on the Senate floor Thursday about a resolution to support the US intelligence community, Flake called the Trump-Putin meeting an "Orwellian moment" and said Trump "failed to summon reality in the face of a despot in defense of your country." Flake said Trump "let down the free world by giving aid and comfort to an enemy of democracy." His use of the phrase "aid and comfort to an enemy" raised some eyebrows, since Article III Section 3 of the Constitution defines "treason" as giving enemies aid and comfort. 👀

Texas Repub Says Trump is Being Manipulated by Putin:
Rep. Will Hurd, a former CIA officer who now represents Texas' 23rd district as a Republican, wrote in an op-ed for the New York Times that Trump has "actively participated in a Russian disinformation campaign" and called on Congress to take action "to give the men and women of our intelligence agencies the tools they need to confront Moscow and prevent this from happening in the future."
"The president's failure to defend the United States intelligence community's unanimous conclusions of Russian meddling in the 2016 election and condemn Russian covert counterinfluence campaigns and his standing idle on the world stage while a Russian dictator spouted lies confused many but should concern all Americans," Hurd wrote.
Washingtontonians Are Trying to Pull Trump's Liquor License:
An Advisory Neighborhood Commission that represents Columbia Heights and Petworth voted in support of a complaint that would strip Trump's D.C. hotel of its liquor license, citing a local law requiring those with a license to be of "good character," per the Washington Post. A group of religious leaders and two retired judges filed a similar complaint in June. The D.C. Alcoholic Beverage Control Board has 90 days to respond.
Fox News Will No Longer Have a First Son's Girlfriend as a Host:
Kimberly Guilfoyle, the longtime Fox News host who is dating Donald Trump Jr., is expected to leave the network, two people familiar with the matter told our Oliver Darcy. Guilfoyle will likely take a job with the pro-Trump non-profit America First Policies, a source said.
