On Today's Show

On GPS at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. ET on CNN:

First, Fareed gives his Take on the state of the Republican Party, and how it is "becoming the party not of Donald Trump, but of Joseph McCarthy."

"Consider the most recent example. Trump has scared much of the country about a small group of Central Americans, fleeing poverty and violence, who are hoping to come to the US border and apply for asylum. It's reasonable to oppose letting them in, but Republicans have not been content to oppose granting asylum. They have concocted facts out of thin air and invented conspiracies about who is behind this group of impoverished migrants."

Next, the US midterm elections are coming up Tuesday. Joining Fareed for a live panel to discuss what to expect are The Atlantic's James Fallows, co-author of Our Towns: A 100,000 Mile Journey into the Heart of America, former White House Communications Director Anthony Scaramucci, author of Trump, the Blue-Collar President, and Katrina vanden Heuvel, editor and publisher of The Nation.

Also on the show: Fareed looks at the state of democracy around the world with David Miliband, president and CEO of the International Rescue Committee, former British foreign secretary and the author of Rescue: Refugees and the Political Crisis of Our Time.

Plus: How is mobile technology transforming India? Joining Fareed to discuss the changes in the country is Ravi Agrawal, managing editor of Foreign Policy and the author of the new book India Connected: How the Smartphone is Transforming the World's Largest Democracy.

And: Fareed is also joined by Reid Hoffman, co-founder of LinkedIn and co-author of Blitzscaling: The Lightning-Fast Path to Building Massively Valuable Companies. They discuss the US economy, the midterms, and what Hoffman has learned about starting and scaling successful businesses.
