Try it you'll like it

Would you care for some big ants? 7/21/19

This Clam is NSFW

We're dishing up weird and wonderful foods in our latest season of Try It You'll Like It. On today's menu—the world's largest burrowing clam. It's called the geoduck, and it looks like a...um… (well, you have eyes.) This saltwater clam is unique to the Pacific Northwest. Geoducks are challenging to harvest because they burrow deep into the ground. But the crew at Taylor Shellfish Farms in Bow, Washington, have their methods.

These Big Ass Ants Are a Colombian Delicacy

"Once I start eating them, I can't stop. They are delicious." José Adrián Peña Álvarez isn't talking about potato chips or pistachios. He's talking about hormigas culonas, which literally translates to "big ass ants." These large, winged insects are a rare delicacy in Colombia. They only emerge from their underground nests once a year, so you have to catch them while you can.

Slurping Down Headless, Raw Fish in the Netherlands

The salty, slippery Dutch new herring rules the town of Scheveningen in the Netherlands. The raw fish is brined for up to a year before being served to customers who swallow the fish skinned and whole. Back in Amsterdam, the herring is prepared a bit differently—chopped up and served on a plate. But any way you like it, it's a delicious, nutritious Dutch delicacy.

Simmering Soup for 45 Years

Some things get better with age. Including soup. That's the thinking at Wattana Panich. This family-run restaurant in Bangkok has been serving soup with the same broth for 45 years. It's a beef noodle soup called neua tuna.

Pizza Gone Bananas

We know people have strong opinions about pizza toppings. The great pineapple on pizza debate has caused rifts in families and ended friendships all around the world. We hate to get pizza lovers riled up over another controversy, but we have to talk about what's going on in Sweden.
