On Today's Show

On GPS at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. ET on CNN:

First, Fareed gives his take on President Trump's withdrawal from Syria—and how it fits a broad pattern of Trump's "knowledge-free" approach to foreign policy, as the president ignores experts and follows his gut.

"The policies we are witnessing from Ukraine to the Middle East are a direct consequence of the triumph of gut over brain, of emotion over intelligence, and of personal ambition over national interest," Fareed says.

Next, former US Secretary of Defense Ash Carter—who created the military campaign to destroy ISIS—discusses Trump's withdrawal, Turkey's incursion, and what they mean for Syria. After that, former National Security Advisor Stephen Hadley and former Deputy National Security Advisor Meghan O'Sullivan, who served under President George W. Bush, discuss Syria and the Trump administration's dealings with Ukraine, amid questions raised by the congressional testimony of former officials. Economist Editor-in-chief Zanny Minton Beddoes then breaks down the latest Brexit machinations, after Parliament delayed consideration of Prime Minister Boris Johnson's deal.

Finally, how did the American dream—a college education—become fodder for scandal? Fareed's latest CNN special report, "Scheme and Scandal: Inside the College Admissions Crisis," examines problems with the allegedly meritocratic process of college admissions and the advantage it gives to wealthy applicants. The special airs tonight, at 9 p.m. ET and PT, on CNN.
