SANCTIONS ON SYRIA: White House imposes new penalties in response to alleged chemical weapons attack

White House announces Treasury Dept.'s Office of Foreign Assets Control has imposed sanctions on Syria in response to the chemical attack earlier this month, specifically freezing the assets of 271 members of the Assad regime suspected of supporting the attack.
