May meets DUP's Foster for deal-making talks

It's time for Theresa May to get down to detail, as she meets Democratic Unionist Party leader Arlene Foster in Downing Street to seek a deal that will allow the Conservatives to govern. The prime minister's party needs the support of the DUP's 10 MPs after the general election returned a hung parliament, but how many of her own party's manifesto commitments will she drop or water down to get it?   The DUP opposes Conservative plans to get rid of the "triple lock" protection for pension rises and make cuts to winter fuel payments. The Queen's Speech - outlining the government's legislative plans - is due on 19 June, and it's not certain whether this will happen on time, if talks last a while.   But Mrs May reportedly had a decent reception at Monday's meeting of the 1922 Committee of backbench Conservative MPs, where she accepted she had put the party in "this mess" by calling a snap election and promised to lead the way "out of it".

Trump travel ban in new court defeat

There's more trouble for Donald Trump's ban on entry to the US for 90 days for people from six mainly Muslim countries. A US appeals court has upheld the state of Hawaii's argument that the current executive order violates existing immigration law. The case could end up in the Supreme Court.

Bee swarm on car confounds experts

Pity Shirley Taylor, whose Nissan has been taken over by a colony of up to 20,000 bees. Experts aren't sure what's attracted the insects to her car, parked outside her home in Hull, but her neighbours - some of whom have been stung - are in a hurry for them to work it out and get rid of them. "It has been a bit of a hair-raising experience," says Mrs Taylor.

Be nicer to my father, says Ivanka

His treatment of rivals during his election campaign wasn't noted for its gentleness, but it seems the level of abuse directed at Donald Trump since winning the US presidency is unacceptable to his family. After son Eric said he had never "seen hatred like this", daughter Ivanka has told Fox News the "level of viciousness" against her father must end.

The incongruous image of Theresa May's face transposed onto an image of Star Wars' Princess Leia is splashed across the Mirror, above the headline "May the farce be with you." The papers get to grips with her acceptance of blame for the Conservatives' problems at the election, with the Sun proclaiming "Mess, prime minister" and the i talking of "May's mea Culpa". Meanwhile, the Daily Telegraph reports that senior cabinet ministers are in secret talks with Labour MPs to secure cross-party backing for "a soft Brexit".
