Her section will return next week. | | What Washington is Talking About: Congress is a week from a possible government shutdown, and a bipartisan DACA deal has been rejected by some Repubs and President Trump, who said in a Thursday meeting on immigration the US shouldn't let immigrants from "shithole countries" into the US. In a tweet this morning, Trump denied using the phrase, but Sen. Dick Durbin, who was at the meeting, said the President "said those hateful things, and he said them repeatedly." What America is Talking About: Sam's Club will close 63 locations across the country, owner Walmart said Thursday. Poll of the Day: In a hypothetical matchup between Trump and Oprah, Oprah would win, according to an NPR-Marist poll released today. The poll found if the 2020 election was held today, 50% of national registered voters would vote for Oprah, 39% would vote for Trump, and 11% are undecided. | | Credit: NPR The poll found a stronger level of support among Dems for Oprah (91%) than Repubs for Trump (85%), but it also found that only 47% of Dems want her to run for president (40% said they don't want her to run and 13% said they're unsure). Trump Took "Victory Lap" After Comments: Trump spent last night calling aides, allies and friends and asking how his NSFW comments were playing out in the press. One White House official described it to our Kaitlan Collins as a "victory lap." 👀 What Rep. Mia Love, Daughter of Haitian Immigrants, Said: Haiti is one of the countries that Trump demeaned in his comments, which he denied making. Rep. Mia Love, a Utah Repub and the daughter of Haitian immigrants, said in a statement that the President's behavior was "unacceptable" and called on him to apologize. She said Trump's comments were: "...unkind, divisive, elitist, and fly in the face of our nation's values. This behavior is unacceptable from the leader of our nation. My parents came from one of those countries but proudly took an oath of allegiance to the United States and took on the responsibilities of everything that being a citizen comes with. They never took a thing from our federal government. They worked hard, paid taxes, and rose from nothing to take care of and provide opportunities for their children. They taught their children to do the same. That's the American Dream. The President must apologize to both the American people and the nations he so wantonly maligned." Other lawmakers, including other Repubs, also came out against Trump's comments. The Media Mostly Went Full "Shithole": Once again, news organizations had to decide how to cover crude language from Trump. This is how 24 of them handled it, according to the top article on their sites last night: - "S***hole": Daily Mail
- "Sh*thole": Breitbart, CBS News
- "S---hole": ABC News, Fox News, Salt Lake Tribune
- "Shithole": Associated Press, Axios, BBC, Bloomberg, BuzzFeed, Chicago Tribune, CNN, Drudge Report*, Huffington Post, Los Angeles Times, MSNBC, NBC, New York Times, Politico, Reuters, USA Today, Wall Street Journal, Washington Post

I can't imagine a diet heavy on fast food, junk food, and soda is good for a 71-year-old with a job as stressful as president of the United States (although there is that "Executive Time"). Trump will be able to decide what goes public, and White House physician Dr. Ronny Jackson will speak to the media about the exam Tuesday. Ivanka, the House Intel Committee's Top Dem Would Like to Have a Word: Rep. Adam Schiff said Thursday he'd like to speak with Ivanka Trump about the 2016 Trump Tower meeting with a Russian attorney if she knows anything. The California Dem said: "I think that if there's credible information that Ivanka Trump had contact with any participants in that meeting, at the time of the meeting, that she should be brought in. She may have more valuable insights on a variety of other issues as well." Guys, Tomi Lauren Doing Man-On-The-Street Interviews in WeHo Isn't as Bad as You'd Think: When I saw the Fox News contributor had spent the day in West Hollywood "discovering why some of these people hate our network" for Hannity, per her Insta, I was like, oh no, oh no, this doesn't sound like it will end well. I was assuming it'd be "Final Thoughts" meets "Watters' World" up and down Sunset Blvd., but no, it was actually super boring and she just walked around asking people what they thought about California being a sanctuary state and that was it. But then she went and said this about Trump's NSFW comments about immigrants. | | Credit: Fox News Street Art Sighting: Street artist Plastic Jesus put up his homage to Shepard Fairey's "Obey," with "Disobey" swapped in and Trump filling in for Andre the Giant, tagged at an L.A. nightclub: | | Credit: @plasticjesus/Instagram If you spot political street art, I'd love to see it.
