What the White House Is Talking About:
Field trip to the Treasury Department for President Donald Trump, where he will sign a "financial services" executive order and two memos.

What the White House Press Corps Is Talking About:
POTUS isn't going to Mar-a-Lago this weekend, nor is he going to his Bedminster, New Jersey, golf club. Which means, yes, he's staying in town.

The First 100 Days Is(n't?) a Big Deal:
Wait, is it? Trump said it was. But then tweeted it really wasn't

Meanwhile, Obama's Back From That Island:
Or at least he will be by Monday. The former President's office announced today that Barack Obama will make his first public post-White House appearance at an event Monday at the University of Chicago. He will have a conversation with young leaders about civic engagement, according to the office's statement. Tickets are by invitation-only.
Ivanka Trump Cancels Book Tour, Sets up Charitable Foundation Instead:
With her newest book, "Women Who Work: Rewriting the Rules for Success," due out next month, Ivanka Trump was scheduled for a book tour -- but now the whole White House job thing has made it more complicated. So, she scrapped it. In addition, according to a lengthy statement on her Facebook page, she has set up the Ivanka M. Trump Charitable Fund, which will receive the rest of her advance and future book royalties. Here's the part about how her book doesn't have anything to do with her current position:

Without a Chief of Protocol, Gaffes Happen:
This Kate Andersen Brower piece on Donald Trump still not having a chief of protocol in place, and why that's seriously problematic, is worth a read. Chiefs of protocol hold the rank of ambassador, and they're there to help make sure embarrassing things don't happen in the world of diplomacy and decorum -- such as Chinese President Xi Jinping sitting to the left of Trump on a couch at Mar-a-Lago this month, a no-no, because the place of prominence is to your right, and that shows respect. See, we learn things here at COVER/LINE.
I'm Not Crying, You're Crying:
I mean, how sweet was this:

On his Instagram page, George W. Bush posted the same image and said: "Pleased to report 41 is joyful, strong, and ready to come home soon."

Vice President Forces Press to Watch Beloved Sports Movie:
Mike Pence, several days into his Asia trip, wanted the probably weary traveling press corps to watch "Hoosiers," the 1986 basketball movie that pretty much every guy you have ever met has seen and cried at.

What Washington Is Talking About:
Trump, who released a "contract with the American voter" during the campaign on his agenda for his first 100 days in office, now says, on Day 92, with time running out, 100 days is a "ridiculous standard."

What America Is Talking About:
The 15-year-old Tennessee student who disappeared with her teacher was found safe Thursday in a Northern California cabin. The 50-year-old teacher who has been accused of kidnapping was arrested, and federal charges have been filed.

New Details About Palin's rockin' White House Visit:
What exactly did Sarah Palin, Kid Rock, and Ted Nugget talk about with Trump when they visited the White House on Wednesday? Nugent told The New York Times they discussed "health, fitness, food, rock 'n' roll, Chuck Berry and Bo Diddley, secure borders, the history of the United States, guns, bullets, bows and arrows, North Korea, Russia" with Trump. Their four-hour visit "was like a family reunion."

Critics mocked the photos from inside the White House posted by Palin, 53. BuzzFeed reporter Michael Hayes said the 2008 vice presidential nominee, who wore an off-the-shoulder top to the Oval Office, "dressed like an asshole" in a now-deleted tweet. Pete Souza, a White House photographer under both Presidents Ronald Reagan and Barack Obama, posted the below photo as an apparent response to the trio's picture next to Hillary Clinton's portrait as first lady, with a simple two-word caption: "Be respectful."

In a wide-ranging interview Thursday with CNN's Jake Tapper (if you didn't see, it's worth the watch), Palin said she invited the rock stars "because Jesus was booked" and said the Clinton photo "says it all."

Palin was also asked if she ever witnessed or experienced sexual harassment when she worked at Fox News. She didn't directly answer the question but said, "I wouldn't put up with anything that would be perceived as intimidating or harassing." She added, "Corporate culture there obviously has to change."

It's Not Just You; We're All Talking More About Politics at Work:
A new Gallup poll found 58% of respondents said they've talked about political issues more at work in the last four months than they have in the past. Good thing there's a newsletter that comes out every day of the workweek to keep you up to date on the latest in Washington 😏.

Why Chaffetz Isn't Running:
Salt Lake City's The Deseret News is out with a story on why Rep. Jason Chaffetz, R-Utah, announced suddenly this week he won't seek re-election next year.

After the 2016 election, the 50-year-old began receiving death threats via email and inbox. There were even plainclothes officers in the crowd and behind the curtains on the stage he stood on at that one viral town hall in February where an angry crowd booed him and chanted "do your job" and investigate Trump.

"Trump getting elected was the worst possible thing for him," a Utah political source told Des News. "Under a Hillary Clinton presidency, he would have had a nightly gig on Fox News. It would have been Crooked Hillary every night. Instead he got Trump."

Caitlyn Jenner Talks LGBT Issues:
"Here's the deal: yes, I have always had views that lean more towards the Republican Party when it comes to politics,"Jenner, 67, told People. "But my loyalties and my fights are not going to be with the Republican Party. My loyalties are with my community and fighting for my community."

Politics For Your Ears:
Here's something for you to spin this weekend: The eight-part CNN original series "Soundtracks: Songs That Defined History" premiered Thursday night, and there's a playlist on Apple Music. Kanye West and Lady Gaga both made it on.
