| When Christopher Gray died this month, he left behind an unusual bequest to the prep school he attended: his bones. Mr. Gray, who wrote the beloved "Streetscapes" column for The Times for nearly 30 years, offered to pay for the "flensing" if the school would leave his skeleton on display for 10 years, "or until it gets stolen by the Sixth Form," the senior class. The family's hunt to find a way to fulfill his wish is fascinating and wonderful. Just don't read it while you're eating. THE NEW YORKER » |
