When Isaiah Griffin was 17 years old, he developed a skin condition called keloids that left his body covered in scars. The extreme changes affected his self-esteem, and he began to battle depression. But Griffin stood strong and started dedicating himself to the gym. Today, he's on his way to becoming a world champion bodybuilder. For Griffin, his is a journey of self-improvement, not one of medals and competitions.

John Daly is an American skeleton racer and a two-time Olympic athlete. Sliding face-down, head-first on a slick bobsled track at 90 mph might sound insane, but for Daly, it's the thrill that keeps him coming back. For the past 15 years, he's been putting his life on the line while racing at breakneck speeds.

Cheating Death, Choosing Life: Kite Surfing at 77
After his wife died of breast cancer, 77-year-old David Cummings decided to seize life by the reins and began kite surfing and snowboarding. The Englishman has been kite surfing for the past four years and he hopes heaven resembles his daily routine of gearing up and letting the kite pull him across the ocean.
