| | Dr. Ronny, Emmanuel, Kanye, Cohen, Comey and more! | | The week began with rumbles that Ronny Jackson, President Trump's nominee to lead the Veterans Affairs department, might have some confirmation problems. It ended with Trump insisting there was "no collusion" between his campaign and Russia -- while German Chancellor Angela Merkel looked on. In between we had the bromance of Donald and Emmanuel (Macron, that is, the President of France), Trump attorney Michael Cohen pleading the Fifth, Kanye West in a MAGA hat and that absolutely astounding phone interview between the President and his friends at "Fox & Friends." Below, you'll find the week that was -- as told by 36(!) major headlines. -- Chris Monday: Tuesday: Wednesday: Thursday: Friday: | | "No collusion, no coordination, no nothing. It's a witch hunt." -President Donald Trump, following news that the House Intelligence Committee today released a redacted version of the Republican report on the committee's yearlong Russia investigation. In it, GOP members say, they found no evidence of collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia. | | | BUSY DAY AT THE WHITE HOUSE | | President Donald Trump welcomed the US Winter Olympics teams to the White House Friday, but Lindsey Vonn, Gus Kenworthy and Adam Rippon skipped the event. All three have been vocal about their political differences with the President. Trump wrapped up his visit with the US Olympians, saying he was on his way to his next meeting: a visit with Angela Merkel. "Now I'm going to see and meet with Angela Merkel and we'll talk about the United States and Germany." Then, he asked the Olympic athletes for some diplomatic help. "We are in the midst of a lot of very good negotiations. If anybody wants to help me negotiate, I'll take your help," Trump said. CNN's Kevin Liptak reported: "If French President Emmanuel Macron represented a friendly, if assertive, voice on matters of deep European concern, Merkel arrived at the White House prepared to act as the stern enforcer on issues such as trade and the Iran nuclear deal, even if expectations of swaying Trump remain low. "Speaking to reporters at the start of their talks, Trump insisted the pair's relationship is chummier than it may appear. Indeed, the leaders appeared delighted to see each other when Merkel's limousine arrived at the West Wing. Trump kissed her twice on the cheek, and later opened his remarks by congratulating her on her narrow election victory earlier this year. Later, they shook hands twice in the Oval Office, avoiding a repeat of Merkel's last visit a year ago when Trump avoided shaking her hand." Read more here. | | Rep. Patrick Meehan announced he is resigning from the House effective Friday, CNN's Daniella Diaz reports. "The Pennsylvania Republican said in January he would not seek re-election, while under fire for using taxpayer money for a payment to a former staff member after a sexual harassment accusation. ... He also announced he'd pay back the $39,000 used to settle the sexual harassment accusation." CNN's Wade Payson-Denney notes: "With Meehan gone, the House Balance of Power is: - 235 Republicans
- 193 Democrats
- 7 vacancies (5 Republicans, 2 Democrats). Though these vacancies do not count Charlie Dent (R, PA-15) who has announced he will resign in May. AZ-08 is included in these vacancies, as Rep.-elect Debbie Lesko has yet to take office."
| | From CNN's Jenny Hansler: "Former President George H.W. Bush will continue to recover in the hospital through the weekend, but he 'is in excellent spirits,' a family spokesman said Friday. Bush continues to focus on 'regaining strength,' but the 93-year-old former president 'is looking forward to resuming his schedule and going to Maine next month,' the spokesman, Jim McGrath, said in a tweet. "The 41st president was moved from intensive care to a regular patient room at Houston Methodist Hospital on Wednesday afternoon. He was admitted on Sunday morning after contracting an infection that spread to his blood." Read more here. | | The White House Correspondents' Dinner is upon us! Whether you are watching on your TV screen at home or partaking in one or two festivities, here's a mini list of what's going on this weekend: - President Donald Trump will be in Washington during this year's WHCD dinner -- Washington, Michigan, that is.
- Meanwhile, in D.C., "Daily Show" contributor Michelle Wolf will be the featured entertainer for this year's dinner.

- After the dinner, Playboy Magazine announced it would be throwing its first-ever WHCD bash, called the "No Tie Party." As CNN's Kate Bennett reported, Cooper Hefner and several unnamed invited guests, will attend the dinner itself, seated at a table purchased by Playboy.
- CNN is hosting its annual Political Hangover brunch on Sunday.

Team USA stopped by the White House today to remind us that gravity is dumb, but America is awesome." Happy Friday!
