What the White House is Talking About:
This afternoon President Trump participates in an event centered around deregulation. Earlier, he has a closed door lunch with Vice President Mike Pence, Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and Secretary of Defense James Mattis.

What the White House Press Corps is Talking About:
Curious whether Tillerson and Trump will have a meeting of the minds, or not, about how to handle North Korea, in light of Tillerson's recent statements -- which appear to be opposed to the President's views.

The annual press corps potluck holiday party is later today in the basement of the press area, a super-glam location. Sarah Sanders made her now famous pecan pie -- and walked everyone through pretty much every step of the process on her Twitter feed yesterday evening.  Whether anyone, and I'm looking at you, April Ryan, feels like eating it after today's scheduled 2 p.m. briefing is TBD.

Omarosa Drama Drags On, Surprised?:

This morning on "Good Morning America," Omarosa Manigault Newman tried to convince us that she wasn't actually fired, but resigned in a calm, professional manner -- pretty much the opposite of the stories every reliable source inside the White House is telling us, but whatevs. She will still be on the payroll until January 20th. Note: taxpayers pay her $179,700 salary. I think Robin Roberts put it best when she literally said, "Bye Felicia!" following the former "Apprentice" star's interview with Michael Strahan.

Congressman Blake Farenthold is Going to Leave Congress:
Thanks in large part to MJ Lee's excellent reporting and her new piece last night, I would imagine, Farenthold will be leaving Congress after his term is up. By the way, my two cents, I find it appalling that he isn't stepping down asap.
GOP Tax Plan, The Part You Care About:
I found this very handy -- because taxes are complicated and while we can drop a million headlines in here, I think how the plan is personally going to affect you and me, down to the dollar, is paramount. You're welcome.

Sean Spicer Gets It Wrong:
Seriously, though, the internet is having some fun because Spicer was apparently at the White House recently for a holiday event and he made a major goof over a classic Dickens tale. Like, a big one. FYI, "A Christmas Carol" is not a book of Christmas carols.

Hmm:
🤔 . The bot that follows the Twitter activities of the Trump family showed this last night about Ivanka Trump, who appears to have a fresh interest in the social media habits of federal law enforcement.

Our Daily Melania:
Melania Trump is on the cover of the new US Weekly magazine as one of the most fascinating people of 2017. I grabbed it last night at the grocery store because I buy tabloids with my ice cream. Hi, I'm Kate.

Dress Like the First Lady:
Yesterday at the Joint Base Bolling-Anacostia Toys for Tots event, Melania wore a festive emerald green coat. It was Prada, and on sale here for $1,736, but it's alllllmost sold out.

YAS, THIS IS TRUE!:
Rudolph really is the best -- it's my favorite, favorite, favorite "animated" holiday story. Thank you for getting this right, America.

What Washington is Talking About:
The FCC is voting on repealing net neutrality rules, Cambridge Analytica CEO Alexander Nix is testifying before the House Intel Committee, and House and Senate Repubs have reached a tentative agreement on their tax bill, which they could vote on as soon as next week.

What America is Talking About:
Disney has agreed to pay $52.4 billion to buy 21st Century Fox's movie studio, regional sports networks, FX, National Geographic, and stakes in Hulu and London-based television provider Sky. Fox News, Fox Business Network, Fox broadcasting, and some regional sports networks are not being purchased and will be spun off. I'm mostly excited that the X-Men are now with the rest Marvel.

Don and Vlad are on a First-Name Basis:
Russian President Vladimir Putin said today at a press conference in Moscow that he and President Trump call each other by their first names.

Biden Comforts Meghan McCain:
On Wednesday's episode of "The View," Meghan McCain told former Vice President Joe Biden she hasn't been able to get through his book "Promise Me, Dad," because his late son Beau had the same cancer that her father, Sen. John McCain, was diagnosed with. "I think about Beau almost every day, and I was told that this doesn't get easier, but that you cultivate the tools to cope with this and work with this," Meghan McCain said. Biden praised Sen. McCain (he said they're "two brothers who were raised by different fathers") and told Meghan not to lose hope.

Biden Apologizes to Anita Hill:
The former Veep told Teen Vogue he owes Hill, who accused then-Supreme Court nominee Clarence Thomas of sexual harassment while testifying before the Senate Judiciary Committee in 1991, an apology because he didn't "do more" for her. He said:

"I believed Anita Hill. I voted against Clarence Thomas. And I insisted the next election — I campaigned for two women Senators on the condition that if they won they would come on the Judiciary Committee, so there would never be again all men making a judgment on this. And my one regret is that I wasn't able to tone down the attacks on her by some of my Republican friends. I mean, they really went after her. As much as I tried to intervene, I did not have the power to gavel them out of order. I tried to be like a judge and only allow a question that would be relevant to ask."

Kevin Hart Endorses The Rock for President:
The Rock and Kevin Hart were on Wednesday's episode of "The Ellen Show" to promote "Jumanji," and The Rock, who announced this week he and his girlfriend are expecting a baby girl, said he's "seriously considering" a presidential run, which his co-star said he'd back. Hart said:

"I think the world that we're living in today, you're seeing the real effect that genuine people like Dwayne have, and the one thing about him is he's very serious when it comes to spreading that love, that laughter and just the upselling of life on a positive level. And if he were to put himself in that position, he would get my support wholeheartedly –- unless it comes to a financial dollar, then we've got to talk."

DC's Top Developments:
A report on development in Washington this year found 260 office projects, 374 retail projects, 625 residential projects and 119 hospitality projects were completed in DC in 2017, according to Curbed.

From Q3 2016 to August 2017, the top office project was 600 Massachusetts Ave. NW (the building where Farmers & Distillers is), the top residential project was Ava Noma, and the top hospitality project was the Trump International Hotel.

Street Art Sighting:
Spotted on the bike path next to the Noma Metro stop, flyers showing Mitch and Chuck and Paul and Nance asking "Will You Be A Dream Hero?!" There is no group or contact information on the flyers in the event any of these Capitol Hill leaders would like to answer that question.
