What the White House Press Corps is Talking About: The Alabama special election, and what to watch for as people head to the polls. Also, will today's briefing with Sarah Sanders be as contentious as yesterday's? It's scheduled for 2 p.m. A Lot of My Friends Are Attorneys: At a rally last night, Kayla Moore, Roy Moore's wife, said the media was trying to paint she and her husband as bigots and anti-Semites. She responded (and it's worth watching the clip) by saying they have Jewish friends, going so far as to reveal, "one of our attorneys is a Jew." Um, ok. Kirsten Gillibrand, calling her a "lightweight" and cryptically saying she would "do anything" for campaign contributions. Gillibrand, likely a presidential candidate in 2020, shot right back. | | Credit: @SenGillibrand/Twitter Our Daily Melania: Melania Trump will tomorrow continue a first lady holiday tradition, going to Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling to sort and box toys for the Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots campaign. She's also going to give a few remarks. Also, Melania is asking for donations for the RNC via email (I'm on the list for work purposes, as I am the DNC, so please hold your comments -- or send them to Hunter :) | | Credit: screenshots from email Spicer to Write Spicy Book: Or so he says. Sean Spicer said on Hannity last night that he intends to pen a real version of how the first few months of the Trump presidency went down. "I have decided it is incumbent on me to set the record straight," said Spicer. It's tentatively titled, "The Briefing," and slated for a July 2018 release. | | It's The Holidays at the VP Residence Too, Guys: Not to be outdone by the holiday glam of the White House, Karen Pence posted a behind-the-scenes video of what it looks like inside the vice president's house these days. There's a sweet cameo from Harley, the Pence family puppy, tearing into a wrapped present. Also, unbiased opinion that this gingerbread house is way better than the WH one -- sorry not sorry. | | Credit: @secondlady/Twitter | | What Washington is Talking About: All eyes are on Alabama. Back in D.C., the Senate Judiciary Committee is discussing drug enforcement legislation and the House is considering resolutions about US partnerships with Canada and Mexico. What America is Talking About: Keaton Jones' mom. Over the weekend, a video of the young Tennessee boy describing how he's bullied at school went viral and people including Tennessee's Sens. Bob Corker and Lamar Alexander, and both Captain America and Wonder Woman posted their support online. Then TMZ found photos of Keaton's mom, Kimberly Jones, who filmed the video, posing with a Confederate flag, and MMA fighter Joe Schilling said in a now-deleted video (still available here) that Jones "just wants money" and wanted him to share her GoFundMe page. She told CBS the Confederate flag photos are the only times she's ever been photographed next to them and said she's spent her life "being bullied and judged because I wasn't racist." Poll of the Day: For the first time since Pew has polled on it, more people say the 2010 health care law, AKA Obamacare, has had a mostly positive effect (44%) than a mostly negative effect (35%). | | Credit: Pew Charles Barkley and Steve Bannon Headline Closing Night Rallies in Alabama: In Birmingham, Alabama native Charles Barkley stumped for Dem Doug Jones and cast the election as a chance for the state to redeem its reputation. He said: "Listen, I love Alabama, but at some point we've got to draw a line in the sand and say we're not a bunch of damn idiots." | | Credit: Justin Sullivan/Getty Images Three hours southeast in Midland City, Alabama, Steve Bannon made his third campaign visit to the state in support of Moore and used some language to describe Repubs who are critical of Trump that sounded ... familiar: "All that establishment up there everyday that doesn't have Trump's back, you know they don't have his back at all. What they want him for is that corporate tax cut, that is all they want him for. Soon as they get that tax cut, you watch what happens, there is a special place in hell for Republicans who should know better. You know what they're doing, they're trying to shut up President Trump and Judge Moore. They're trying to shut you up." The reason it sounded familiar? Ivanka Trump said "there's a special place in hell for people who prey on children" when asked her thoughts about the allegations against Moore during an interview in November with the Associated Press. | | Credit: Jim Watson/Getty Images Trump's Best Nine: You can find out your nine most-liked Instagram photos of the year here. I looked up Trump so you don't have to, and here's his grid: | | Credit: @barackobama/Instagram His No. 1 pic was the the one of the kids dressed as him and Pence during his trip to Utah last week, with nearly 483,000 likes as of this morning, followed by a photo from the 4th of July of the White House lit up red, white and blue, with more than 475,000 likes, and a photo of him with 11-year-old Frank Giaccio who mowed the Rose Garden lawn in September, with more than 474,000 likes. And just because I know you're wondering, yes, Obama's top Instagram pic from the year got more likes than Trump's. It was this shot of him shaking H.W.'s hand at the One America Appeal event in Texas to support hurricane relief in October, with more than 895,000 likes. Obama doesn't have a full top nine because he only posted seven times this year. The email was a response to Twitter announcing in November its users could face online consequences for offline behavior. "We've made some incredible progress this month on the product in preparation for Twitter's strict new enforcement rules," Gab's email read. Jimmy Kimmel's Son Makes a Cameo: The host brought his son Billy, born in April with a heart issue, to his show last night as he called for Congress to support the Children's Health Insurance Program, or CHIP. He showed a number onscreen for viewers to call their members of Congress and said, "Don't let them keep pushing it off, they need to fund CHIP now." | | Credit: Jimmy Kimmel Live Post Malone is the Most Successful Known NRA Member on the Charts Right Now: Rapper Post Malone is an NRA member, and his song "Rockstar" featuring 21 Savage just ended an eight-week run at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.
