Our time is now. 9/23/19 Celebrating a New Generation of Filmmakers At Great Big Story, we know that storytelling needs a whole range of voices. That's why we started #WeFilm, a movement to celebrate storytellers who challenge misconceptions in filmmaking. This week, some of the creatives responsible for your favorite Great Big Stories discuss the challenges that female filmmakers face behind the lens. #WeFilm Q+A: Sheila Nevins Sheila Nevins is a legend in the documentary world. No exaggeration. During the nearly 40 years she spent as executive producer and president of HBO Documentary Films, she championed non-fiction filmmaking and brought the genre to a wider audience. "Paradise Lost," "Going Clear," the Oscar-winning "Citizenfour"—these are just a few of the more than 1,500 credits Nevins has to her name. At the age of 80, Nevins is now embarking on a new chapter of her storied career as head of MTV Documentary Films. Dominican Republic: Los Haitises The Dominican Republic is famous for its sandy beaches and beautiful resorts. But if you are an ecotourist, Los Haitises National Park is calling out to be explored. Nestled along the country's northeast coast, the crown jewel of the Dominican Republic's national parks is a mountainous marvel.
